Kodak Alaris Achieves EPEAT® Silver Registration for Entire Scanner Range

Technology provider has 28 scanners listed in EPEAT registry for environmental excellence, the most of any scanner vendor in the world

Rochester, NY – June 15, 2017 – Kodak Alaris has registered an additional eight scanners at the Silver level in the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), the definitive global registry for greener electronics. With the addition of the Kodak ScanMate i940, i1150 and i1150WN Scanners; the i1190, i1190E and i1190WN Scanners; and the Scan Station 710 and 730EX, all 28 scanners in its range have now achieved Silver level status on the EPEAT registry[i], meeting strict environmental criteria.

Managed by the Green Electronics Council, EPEAT is the most trusted source of environmental global product ratings, making it easy for decision makers to select high performance electronics that support their organizations’ IT and sustainability goals. EPEAT currently tracks more than 4,400 products from more than 60 manufacturers across 43 countries.

The environmental criteria underlying the EPEAT system address the full product lifecycle, from design and production, to energy use and recycling. To be added to the EPEAT registry, imaging equipment products must meet all applicable requirements from the list of 33 environmental performance criteria. There are also up to 26 additional optional criteria which determines a product’s rating of Bronze, Silver or Gold.

“Buyers in both the public and private sectors use EPEAT to identify and purchase effective, energy-efficient solutions that reduce their costs and environmental footprint,” said Rick Costanzo, President & General Manager, Kodak Alaris Information Management. “We are delighted that our entire range has achieved Silver status and are proactively working on meeting the additional optional criteria to earn Gold status.”

EPEAT offers unmatched depth and breadth of adoption, including enterprises, educational institutions and local and national governments. The US government alone has purchased more than four million EPEAT-registered products, more than from any other electronics eco registry.[ii]

In addition, hundreds of universities and colleges in North America use EPEAT in their electronics purchasing decisions. According to the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, of those, more than 150 purchase only EPEAT Silver-rated or higher products.
